On Site Photography Activity Part 3 - Week 2

The final activity which we needed to complete involved colour swatching and using adobe colour to generate a colour palet for our specific site. This allowed for data visualisation processes to be explored, leading to a deeper knowledge and understanding of the key colour elements contained within my specific site.

On site photography activity part 2 - week 2

The second activity which was required in the site challenge became more challenging when new words and ideas were introduced which I didn't necessarily notice about the structures and landscapes immediately. This allowed me to explore further design types and elements which I was previous unaware of and made me appreciate my structure so much more in hindsight.

Void                                             Structural Element                        Foyer

Safety Element                             Public Space                                 Pathway

On site photograph activity - week 2

This week our site work included taking various photographs of the site which reference or clearly express certain design elements which we should be conscious of whilst designing.  The task required us to design elements and principles and a series of components that are common in the Built Environment.

Images expressing the design elements -

Lines                                             Shapes                                          Shapes

Direction (of timber lines)           Size / Scale                                      Repetition / Pattern

Size / Scale                                   Proximity                                      Colour

Texture                                         Balance                                         Alignment

Direction                                       Alignment                                     Repetition

Contrast (metal and wood)           Space                                            Balance

Generating a graph using the assigned database - week 2 studio

This lesson we were required to utilise one of the five sets of data provided to generate a graph to visually represent this data using adobe illustrator. This application was one which I was not very familiar with and posed a challenging. although it was difficult at first to locate all the tools and how they correspond to different things, it was highly beneficial and allowed me to generate a graph which clearly illustrated the relevant information in a clear and concise manner. the challenge for this assignment will be to place all the elements together when all five of the individual photoshop designs have to be combined for the final assessment in week 5.

In class swatch generation activity related to data base - week 2

This studio lesson allowed me to become more familiar with colour swatching and using the adobe capture app to convert words to images to colour swatches to develop a colour pallet related to a specific subject matter. This was very insightful and fascinating to me as I has never considered this transformation strategy before. My team was really good in the fact that we brainstormed together about the initial words relating to each data base and then split into individual work on generating the inspiration images and colour swatches. I was very excited to get home and start using the information I had generated to assist me in making an accurate graph application relating to the specific data set allocated. The words which I used to describe the number students in the BENV1010 course consisted of holistic, experimental. umbrella, collective and creative

Experimental -

Collective -

Holistic 2 -

Creative -

umbrella (overarching) -

All of these colour swatches and image generations allowed me to generate a sufficient and engaging colour palet to use throughout my database graph generated in adobe illustrator.

Photoshop Work

The photoshop workshop online was quite challenging initially but allows me to redevelop previously learned skills and utilise them in a creative way to place the provided image (in my case the arch) in the specified site. Although it was largely time consuming it was highly beneficial and taught me the required skills which allowed me to become more confident utilising the adobe application.
